About Us

Purpose: 

Meals on Wheels of Horry and Georgetown County, Inc. Glorifies our Lord Jesus Christ by providing home delivered meals, assistance, and fellowship to the homebound, elderly, terminally ill, and other organizations.

Mission:

Meals on Wheels of Horry and Georgetown County, Inc. will exist to provide nutrition, compassion, hope, assistance, housing and the love of Jesus to those who are or have family that is classified homebound, elderly, and terminally ill. We will also support other organizations that align with our values, adhering to Biblical principles, such as, but not limited to tithing monthly and sharing overflow of goods

Vision:

“Delivering God’s Love One Meal at a Time” in order to transform the lives of those we serve by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, focusing on the whole being, upholding the sanctity of life, and dealing with their current nutritional needs.

Meet our Board of Directors

Advisory Board Member/ Pastoral Care/Meal delivery driver/Christmas Committee: Stephen Alls

Stephen is a MOW Volunteer, driver and Christmas Committee member, loves Jesus and his family. Heart to help anyone in need through ministry and business.

Board Member/ Prayer Leader: Cory Howard

Cory grew up in Trinidad and Tobago, one of the islands of South America. At age 12, he started preaching in Trinidad and Tobago. At age 17, he started his first church and has been pastoring ever since. Presently, he is the founding pastor of You Are Loved Church located in Little River, SC. He is an author and coach who believes in leadership, excellence, love, and transformation that comes from the greatest leader ever, Jesus Christ. Cory Howard is married to Halice Howard who he met during covid at Meals on Wheels of Horry County. In that season, Cory was instrumental in our efforts to continue serving meals during the shutdowns and helped us go from making 100 meals a day 5 days a week, to cooking and delivering 1,500 meals a day six days a week. Going as far as, living in an RV with our CEO onsite to make sure thousands of people in need/homebound could eat. Most importantly, always helping to share the Gospel.

Chief Executive Officer/ Board Member: Michael Snuggs

The CEO of Meals on Wheels of Horry and Georgetown Counties, grew up in Myrtle Beach. He served in the United States Army for 10 years and conducted 3 deployments to Afghanistan. Upon getting out of the service, he owned and operated a landscaping company, but then Jesus snatched him out of the darkness! Through the transformative power of Jesus Christ, Michael has overcome many demons and received supernatural healing in both his heart and physical body. He now lives to serve the Lord in every aspect of his life. His main focus is to help unite the body of Christ so that we may accurately demonstrate God’s Kingdom and more effectively take back the souls the enemy is trying to steal.

Board Secretary/ Gala Chairman/ Client Care Lead: Christen Rivera

Christen Rivera works from home as an accountant for Wyndham Destinations and has lived along the Grand Strand her whole life. She has been volunteering at MOW since May of 2021. She is the head of Client Care and the Committee Chair for our Gala. She is married to her husband Kristopher and they have one daughter, named Sophia.

Board Treasurer/ Pastoral Care: Darrin Dick

Darrin lives in Myrtle Beach, SC with his wife of 16 years, Maryclayre, and their three children—Addy, Molly, and Dason. He gave his life to Jesus at age five and experienced a deep renewal of his faith during college while studying art in Savannah. Originally pursuing a career in the arts, God redirected his path into ministry, leading him to join the staff at NewSpring Church in 2010 where he would work as a creative director and later move to the Myrtle Beach area to pastor. In 2023, Darrin was led to pursue the community in a new way, working locally with those experiencing homelessness and owning a business doing design, marketing, and consulting for ministries and businesses. He is passionate about the local church, evangelism, and building God’s Kingdom—wherever that may take him.

Chairman of the Board of Directors/ Care Team/ Meal Delivery Driver/ Lead Chef from 2011-2022: Kerry Straley

Kerry was born in upstate New York and in 2011 retired with his loving wife to Myrtle Beach. He has 2 adult sons who live in California and are his pride and joy. After being healed of stage 4 Lymphoma when they moved to Myrtle Beach, Kerry was given a 2nd chance at life and wanted to give back. He attended an Activities meeting in his community and started cooking for Meals On Wheels over 11 years ago. Kerry Said, “This Christ lead ministry has taught me so much about doing Gods work and being the hands of feet of Jesus fills me every day.”

Meet our Staff/Volunteers:

Executive Assistant: Marlene Straley – A native New Yorker who retired with her husband to Myrtle Beach in 2011. She has 2 adult sons who live in California and she absolutely with out a doubt loves them with ALL of her heart. They are never far from her heart, thoughts and discussions within the Meals on Wheels kitchen. She got involved with Meals on Wheels in the fall of 2011 after hearing about this wonderful Christian ministry at an activities meeting in her community held by the previous Director. She knew immediately that she wanted to become a part of this organization. In her 11+ years of services she had worn many hats and continues to serve helping our homebound seniors and working to be the hands and feet of Jesus.  Marlene states “It’s been a joy and a blessing in my life.”

Chief Operations Officer: Galen Hammond

Nine years ago, Galen moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he now lives with his wife, Michaela, and their three children, Grace, Zakiyah, and Malaki. Originally from Walnut Cove, North Carolina, he spent cherished years playing in his grandmother’s garden. At 15, he relocated to Port Angeles, Washington, with a lifelong entrepreneurial spirit. Later, he channeled this drive into the restaurant industry, opening his first locations and eventually owning multiple successful establishments. Despite his achievements, Galen felt unfulfilled until Jesus transformed his life. His middle son, born with an incurable disease, was miraculously healed at a church service—a daily reminder of God’s grace. In Myrtle Beach, Galen purchased a bread distribution business and developed a passion for hydroponic farming. Fueled by faith, he is dedicated to building a healthy, unified, and loving community that reflects the love of Jesus.

Intake Team Leader:

Kate Stout – Kate is a retired critical care nurse of 42 years. She continues to work as a freelance clinical editor for nursing publications. She is married to her husband, Rick, and they share 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Originally from the Philadelphia area, she moved to the southeast coast in 2016 from Las Vegas, where she lived for 13 years.

Kitchen Leaders: 

Tiffany is retired from the United States Army and an outstanding volunteer. She is dedicated to making sure our grandparents who have special dietary needs get wonderful meals. She said, “ I really enjoy serving here. It is an absolute pleasure and honor to serve our Grandparents in Georgetown and Horry County.”

Louane grew up on a dairy farm in NJ.  She and her husband, Denny, have been married since 1981.  They have a son who works as a school based mental health counselor.  Louane retired from civil service after 39 years and relocated to Myrtle Beach.  She was employed by Coastal Carolina University and Coastline Women’s Center before going into “volunteer mode.”  Louane and her husband are members of First Baptist Church Murrells Inlet where she participates in a Precept Bible study and Awana.  In her spare time she enjoys:  exercising, volunteering, loving on her two golden doodles, mowing the grass, and sitting on the BEACH!

Jack Algor- Delivery Bag Prep Team: Responsible for packing, auditing, organizing and preparing meals in our delivery bags for driver pick up.

Lead Donation and Delivery “Runner”: Stephanie Thomas – recently retired after 28 years in law enforcement in Pennsylvania. She served 12 years in USAR as a medic, volunteered for MOW in Montgomery County, PA for 3 years…and is now enjoying life in MB. Stephanie has been one of the most significant and impactful additions to our team in the last year. Her dedication and willingness to serve those in need truly is commendable.
